Works with both Engineering and Manufacturing to develop and define concepts and processes for, and integral to, new product and product enhancement programs. Assists plant Manufacturing Engineering team in the integration of designs and processes into a lean manufacturing environment. Applies lean manufacturing principles, including value stream mapping, OEE analysis, 5S, TPM, standardize work concepts, setup reduction, and Kanban systems. Utilizes advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) & FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis). Manages multiple international projects and serves as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing plant teams in a global setup. Participates in NPI (New Product Introduction) using a disciplined process (Stage-Gate). Utilizes knowledge of Bills of Materials, process time studies and line balancing to improve manufacturing efficiency. Utilizes virtual tools and systems for factory flow management, including ProModel and Process Simulators. Manages large capital projects, factory setups and/or new product launches utilizing tools, including MS Project, Excel, and Gantt charts. Reviews, interprets and adjusts electronic edits to drawings to advise Engineers and Plant Launch Managers. Develops manufacturing planning, initial tooling requirements and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments to facilitate the definition and specification of the assembly processes. Applies cost of poor quality (COPQ) and warranty analysis to prioritize design improvements. Serves as a lead resource for cause and effect analysis and corrective action planning. Travel required: up to 50% of time as required both domestically and internationally.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Management, and seven (7) of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer or Manager-Heavy Machinery Manufacturing. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and seven years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Management, and five (5) of experience as an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer or Manager-Heavy Machinery Manufacturing. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and seven years of experience or a Master's degree and five years of experience. As part of the experience being required, applicants must have had: experience in developing and implementing factory layout design and setup, including lean assembly line setup, assembly methods and technologies, within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience in the use of lean tools, including Value Stream Mapping, OEE analysis, 5S, TPM, Standard Work, Kaizen, Setup reduction, and Mistake Proofing within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience with NPI/NPD (New Product Introduction/New Product Development) in new product launch processes using a disciplined Stage-Gate type process within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience in the use of advanced engineering techniques, including DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience in the use of simulation/virtual decision-making tools, including ProModel and Process Simulator, within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience in ERP systems deployment, Bill of Materials analysis, process time studies and line balancing within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience in the use of advanced Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methods within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience in the application of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) & Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; experience using MS Project, Microsoft Excel, Access and Minitab, and in the application of statistical methodology and mathematical principles within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment; and experience managing or leading large scale capital projects and personnel within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment.
